In Vietnamese culture, the Qilin (or Asian Unicorn) is a benevolent creature. A hybrid of a dragon and a horse, it is fierce in appearance but vegetarian and kind in nature.

Nguyen Tuan Hoang has a deep spiritual connection with the Qilin, stemming from his childhood days performing in traditional Lion Dance troupes.
This piece was hand-sculpted over two weeks using Chamotte clay—a gritty, raw material known for its incredible durability and ancient texture. Fired at high temperatures, the work achieves a stone-like hardness that will endure for generations.
